PHOENIX, AZ — With inspiration from a recent lip sync performance of “Long As I Have King Jesus” originally by Vicki Winans performed by Felicia Minor, Phoenix valley’s DJ Tsunami was inspired to get a gospel hour started featuring entertainers including drag queens, male entertainers and more.
DJ Tsunami presents Hangover Gospel Happy Hour will debut at a cafe in Phoenix called The Refuge at 4727 North 7th Avenue in Phoenix on Saturday, May 30 at 6 p.m. The show will feature Valley entertainers Jade D Licious, Jesus Avila, Sassy, and the source of inspiration herself, Felicia “Fefe” Minor.
“I was so inspired by Felicia at a Mesa Community College drag show that I wanted to start this show. I’ve seen it done in Vegas, but not by drag queens or other entertainers,” say Tsunami. He hopes that the show grows, possibly making it a monthly show.
The admission was originally set for $6 per person and then $10 per couple. Tsunami and the group decided that they would allow the first 35 people (the capacity of the performance area) with no charge. The audience is encouraged to give back to the “church” throughout the evening.
