Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like—drag performers reading stories to children in libraries, schools, and bookstores. DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.
I had an amazing time kicking off Pride Month by participating in Drag Story Hour at the second annual Haircuts for Humans event. It was a great event benefiting Arizona Trans Youth & Parent Organization (AZ TYPO). The organization provides support and assistance for trans* youth and their parents, families.
I am excited to be joining Drag Story Hour Arizona, the official Arizona chapter of the national Drag Queen Story Hour, for the upcoming Haircuts for Humans event at Public Image in Phoenix on Sun., June 2.
