Live! with Fefe & Freddy returns for Season 15, Episode 2, with a conversation about intersex and asexual identities, a community event that took an unexpected turn, political headlines, voting, and Día de los Muertos.

This episode is a reminder that there is always more to learn about the people around us. We’re talking about identities that are often misunderstood, sharing stories from our lives, and making room for a little humor along the way.

Understanding intersex and asexual identities

We’re shining a light on our intersex and asexual siblings and talking about what these identities mean.

Intersex is an umbrella term for people born with sex characteristics that do not fit typical definitions of binary male or female bodies. These variations may involve chromosomes, hormones, reproductive organs or genitalia. Some are visible at birth, while others may not be discovered until later in life.

Asexuality is a sexual orientation in which someone experiences little to no sexual attraction. Being ace is not the same as being celibate, and it does not automatically mean someone has no sex drive, cannot experience arousal, or does not want a relationship. Asexuality is a spectrum, and people’s experiences can differ.

We also discuss misconceptions, including the idea that ace people simply have not met the right person or that intersex and ace people need to be changed to fit society’s expectations. They don’t.

Freddy’s Trunk or Treat takes an unexpected turn

Freddy shares a story from the Trunk or Treat and Queer Marketplace at Brick Road Coffee in Tempe. The event has grown over the years, bringing together vendors, families, and community members.

Freddy was also there for Drag Story Hour Arizona. But after forgetting the costume and making a last-minute trip back home, the day took another turn. A wrong step in platform boots led to severe foot pain, an ER visit, and a diagnosis of a fractured fifth metatarsal.

The injury means Freddy may have to miss a planned performance in Tucson. It’s a frustrating change of plans, especially with a new costume and number in the works.

Fefe’s weekend and Halloween Drag Bingo

Fefe catches us up on Halloween Drag Bingo at Drink Me! Tea Room, a personal challenge, and a weekend spent taking care of things at home. There’s plenty of life happening off camera, too, and we share some of that with our listeners.

Politics, voting and the headlines

We also take a closer look at current events, including political comments and headlines that left us shaking our heads.

With Election Day approaching, we remind listeners to make a plan to vote and to check the requirements and deadlines that apply to their ballot. Staying informed and participating in the process matters.

Día de los Muertos: Honoring those who have passed

We close out with a conversation about Día de los Muertos and the traditions that honor loved ones who have died. The observance includes more than one day, with different traditions and moments of remembrance throughout the period.

It’s a meaningful reminder that remembering our loved ones can be a celebration of their lives, their stories, and the connections that continue.
